The Bladetech Lightspeed Edge Black Diamond DLC Steel Runners are incredibly strong thanks to the diamond-like coating finish. This premium coating extends the lifespan of the runner because of its ability to fight off nicks, chips, corrosion, and scratches. Not only that but it holds an edge longer than standard runners and reduces friction to improve your glide.

Unique to Bladetech is Flex-Force technology, a patented design in which the front of the runner flexes up into the holder. Energy is stored and released upon your stride, boosting your speed and acceleration by up to 5%! It even gives players health benefits by reducing stress on the knee joints where all that vertical energy would normally be absorbed.

Lastly, the runners come pre-profiled so that the blades maintain better ice contact in all skating positions. This improves stability, glide, acceleration, stopping and turning over standard stock profiles.

IW can have your skate blades delivered profiled, sharpened, and game-ready with Elite Blade Performance technology! Choose custom profiles like Double, Triple, Quad, SCS, and Polaris to boost speed, stability, and agility. We offer various sharpening options and an Express Mail-In service. Select your profile and sharpening hollow when adding a blade to your cart. KEY TECHNOLOGIES
Official Blade of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA)
Bladetech Hockey has been named the Preferred Skate Blade Partner of the ACHA. Through this partnership, Bladetech Hockey’s patented Flex Force Advantage skate blade will now be available to power ACHA players with customized stainless-steel runners.

Flex-Force
A patented blade design that allows the front portion of the runner to flex up into the holder of your skates.  This stores the vertical energy and releases it when you extend your stride, increasing your speed and maximizing acceleration.
Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC)
A premium carbon material coating that provides properties similar to diamond, which results in a runner that has incredible strength against nicks, scratches, and chips. This coating also greatly increases blade retention, resistance to corrosion, and even glide.

Holds an Edge wellThis is definitely premium steel and holds an edge that stands up well over time. In my opinion these hold an edge better than the Bauer Fly-Ti, which is the only other high end steel that I have personal experience with.

SharpSharper than stock Bauer steel. Had to go from 5/8 to 3/4. It holds its edge longer also.

Makes skating far more efficientThe improvement is remarkable. Initially, I could immediately pick up on a noticeable reduction in friction when skating. These blades make skating feel a lot smoother on good ice, but when the ice has been chopped up, they seem to be able to not suffer nearly as much drag as the stock steel. I don't know how true their claim of 5.5% faster skating is in relation to their "flex-force" technology where the blade supposedly moves up into the holder slightly and rebounds back, but I can definitely say that skating takes far less effort than before and feels a lot smoother. They glide for longer, and getting up to top speed is much easier. They held a solid edge for around a month, and I used them around 4 times a week. I've compared here and there going back to my old steel, and the difference is too great to go back. I personally had Ice Warehouse profile my blades as well, and I think that everyone who is going to invest $160~ into these might as well add the ProSharp profiling & sharpening in anyways. The profiling size recommendations seem solid as the profile definitely feels better than whatever Bauer used on the stock Supreme M4 blades. My style is powerful strides in a straighter direction, so I went with a Quad Medium profile, and it seems to function far better than the Bauer profile for my type of skating. Overall amazing product, would buy them again in a heartbeat. Just make sure whoever sharpens them doesn't use a honing stone as that will damage the black coating that is responsible for a big portion of the performance and edge retention. I think anyone who wants to push the limits of their skating or just can't stand sharpening routinely will benefit from these.
