Overview

The Bladetech Lightspeed Edge Polished Steel Runners feature Flex Force Technology, which makes Bladetech unlike any other replacement steel on the market. Flex Force Technology provides hockey players with both performance and health benefits. The runner has a unique design where the blade flexes up into the holder, absorbing and storing the vertical energy before exploding it back out during the stride extension.

This new technology increases player speed and acceleration, as well as absorbs vertical energy that would normally be absorbed by the knee joint. This ultimately reduces stress on the knees while increasing the efficiency of each stride, slowing down player fatigue. Bladetech only uses the highest quality of steel and finished the surface with a high polish, giving players a longer glide and sharpening life.

Lastly, the runners come pre-profiled so that the blades maintain better ice contact in all skating positions. This improves stability, glide, acceleration, stopping and turning over standard stock profiles.

IW can have your skate blades delivered profiled, sharpened, and game-ready with Elite Blade Performance technology! Choose custom profiles like Double, Triple, Quad, SCS, and Polaris to boost speed, stability, and agility. We offer various sharpening options and an Express Mail-In service. Select your profile and sharpening hollow when adding a blade to your cart. Specifications

KEY TECHNOLOGIES
Official Blade of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA)
Bladetech Hockey has been named the Preferred Skate Blade Partner of the ACHA. Through this partnership, Bladetech Hockey’s patented Flex Force Advantage skate blade will now be available to power ACHA players with customized stainless-steel runners.

Flex-Force
A patented blade design that allows the front portion of the runner to flex up into the holder of your skates.  This stores the vertical energy and releases it when you extend your stride, increasing your speed and maximizing acceleration.
High Polish
Premium finish that provides better glide and longer sharpening life.
22mm Blade Height
Taller than standard OEM runners, this added height provides tighter turns, harder stops, and extends the sharpening lifespan over standard steel runners.

HOW TO FIND YOUR SKATE BLADE SIZE
Take your current hockey skates and identify the three-digit number, which can be found on the heel side of your blade holder or on the blades themselves. Locate your three-digit number in the sizing charts below to find your Bladetech Edge Runner size. If for any reason you cannot locate the number, see our How to Size a Hockey Skate Blade and Holder article for a more in-depth approach to skate blade sizing and skate blade compatibility.

Crazy fast shippingI had my blades in 3 days with a custom profile. Couldn’t ask for more.

Good steel, perhaps over-promisedI like that they have a much higher profile than my stock runners. The price is a good value. However, I have not noticed the speed benefits which the marketing brags about. I also haven't realized any agility gains from the multi-radius profile. It's possible that my skill level is not high enough to benefit, but that's my experience. One thing that might be nothing: My first game with them, I got a large nick on one edge. I don't recall my skates hitting anything hard that game. Maybe it was a fluke, or the steel could be soft. Time will tell. I was able to restore the blade with an edging tool.

Bladetech and Ice Warehouse SharpeningI tried out these runners as an alternative to the stock runners on a pair of UltraSonics. They arrived perfectly sharp and were very easy to install in the Edge holder. As far as the blades themselves, I've heard they are meant to flex a little toward the toe, and I did notice it when testing them out. It was a little weird feeling at first, but it really just made my steps normal impacts from skating a little softer, which for my aging knees, was quite a pleasant surprise. The only odd quirk I noticed was that they tend to whistle a little when taking longer straight strides. I thought I had something stuck to my skates initially, but it must have been caused by the small hole near the toe. The Ice Warehouse sharpening and profiling was absolutely perfect. I'm not sure what magic they are doing, but I will be using their mail-in service to sharpen my runners going forward.
