Budget friendly starter skatesThese skates are a great budget friendly option for first time derby skates. The stock parts are acceptable for learning the basic maneuvers for skating. They are compatible with most skate parts so they offer upgradability for when you outgrow the stock parts. I personally upgraded the wheels, bearings, cushions and toe stops as I became better at skating. The stock cushions/bushings are hard. I quickly swapped them out for softer ones as I developed the need to skate with higher maneuverability. On three occasions, I have had the truck pop out of the pivot cup while skating. This may be attributed to how loose I skate my trucks and how sharp the maneuvers I tend to take are. Important note for larger wheels: The bolts that attach the plate to the boot are a bit too long. They caused an issue where my 65mm outdoor wheels would scrape along the wheel's surface when turning. To fix this, I took a Dremel and cut the bolts shorter, which fixed the issue. This next nit-pick is generally something most beginning skaters will not notice nor drastically affect their performance. The surface where the truck hanger meets the truck axle has some metal imperfections that cause the hanger surface to be uneven. This causes uneven pressure to be applied to the bearing’s inner race surface, therefore causing the wheel/bearing system to be less aligned on the truck axle. The consequence of this is that it causes the truck axle nut to need to be looser for the wheel to spin, which then causes wheel chatter. Overall, these skates are great for beginners and allow room for growth.

Great skates! They fit great and are pretty comfy after you break them in, which didn't take long. I would suggest buying new laces, so you can tie them tighter. :)

Good starter skatesWe've been using these skates in our Derby league in Ecuador for entry-level skaters, and we are pleased with them. They are comfortable, fit most of the feet with no problem, and are pretty good for beginners. It lets them practice their basic abilities without limiting their movement or responsiveness. Most people buy these as their first skates and then upgrade from them.
