For players who rely on quick bursts of speed and agile movements to dominate the game, this type of skate is ideal. These offer a moderately stiff boot that balances support with mobility. These these skates, you can swiftly change direction, make sudden moves and accelerate rapidly.

Cut Protection Level

This is the general level of protection against cuts.
- Minimum: Basic protection suitable for competitive play
- Standard: Balanced protection for intense gameplay. Protects against more severe cuts.
- Maximum: Highest level of cut resistance for elite gameplay. Ideal for competitive adult hockey and designed for the biggest and fastest players.

The Riedell R3 Outdoor Skate is the R3's first official foray outdoors under the sun, but it comes with a long history of being one of the most-recommended beginner skates on the market. Previous iterations of the R3 quickly became the go-to skate of choice for new skaters due to its sneaker-like fit and quality construction. The R3 Outdoor has a Thrust nylon plate and 62mm Sonar Zen Wheels that carry an 85A hardness, slightly more firm than typical outdoor wheels. We're big fans of the 85A, which is still soft enough to feel good on not-so-smooth outdoor surfaces but hard enough provide a really solid response that feels more natural. Like most of the components on these skates, the toe stop on the front is both adjustable and replaceable. That means that you can fine-tune your skates to roll exactly how YOU want them!
