Riedell Solaris 2.0 Boots are high-performance roller skate boots that are made to deliver peak performance for skaters who demand the best. As the second generation of one of Riedell's most popular boots, the Solaris 2.0 builds upon the success and popularity of the original by refining the tongue, expanding reinforcements, and adding a fingerloop backstay - all without sacrificing the Solaris' amazing out-of-the-box comfort.
While much of the Solaris 2.0 remains unchanged from its predecessor, Riedell did make some key changes to the boot's materials and design that were based on skater feedback. The tongue underwent an aggressive redesign in which the previous padding was replaced with a thicker, high-density foam. This foam runs the full length of the tongue for improved protection against lace bite and has been stitched into 'chambers' that allow the tongue to curve into a more natural and comfortable fit. Inside the boot, heat-moldable reinforcements have been expanded and heightened. Now covering nearly all of the front half of the boot on both sides, these supports add structure and improve durability by reducing the rate at which the leather stretches. The addition of a fingerloop backstay to the rear of the boots makes them easier to put on, take off, and carry around.
Elsewhere, the Solaris 2.0 carries over many of the features that helped make the original Solaris so popular. Its ContourFit C/AA last is one that many skaters have fallen in love with because the ball is wide, the toe box is rounded, and the heel is narrow, so your foot is comfortable at the front and secure at the back. The uppers are the same full-grain, hand-sorted Kango-Tan leather as before, as is the perforated Strada microfiber lining that has been treated to resist moisture and odor. The Dynamic Response Outsole is a rigid composite material, and while it does have a fresh new graphic, it's the same outsole that powered the first Solaris to such lofty heights. And last but not least, the Solaris' signature V-Lock strap system remains in place to help keep heels locked in.
