Overview

The Rollerblade REVV BOA Boots are a go-to boot for fitness enthusiasts looking to up their game with a responsive performance-oriented boot that still provides comfort on long rides. They are intended for marathons or long-distance skating with a carbon fiber shell that maximizes your energy transfer.

Inside they obtain the desired fit with anatomical padding, a footboard sizer, and a well-designed tongue. The footboard sizer allows you to choose from a tighter performance fit when inserted, or a more relaxed fit when removed. From the front of the boot, you can see that Rollerblade positioned the BOA lacing off to the side. This optimizes its wrap around your foot. Boa lacing is ideal for long distances as traditional lacing lets go after time and can get in the way while Boa cords stay true and secure.

GENERAL SKATE SIZING GUIDELINES
Measure both feet with socks similar to those in which you intend to skate. Then use the measurement of the longest point and reference the model-specific size chart to determine size. How to Measure Your Feet for Skates.
Proper fit has the toes not being cramped against the front. Toes may slightly brush the front as heels will settle back when in the skating position. Try on skates indoors while in a seated position. Lace and buckle both skates, tap your heels to the floor, and then stand and bend your knees to simulate the skating position. Would Recommend
It's all about breaking them inIt's Aug 2024 and I've been rolling in the Revv BOA boots since late May. I mounted them on a set of Striker II 3x110 frames that I had on the shelf rather than but a complete skate with RB frames. It's been a blast using these in the city after several years of mostly rolling on 3x125 frames. They gave me a lot of grief the first month or so. They'd be comfortable at first, but after 90 minutes to 2 hours rolling, my ankles would be screaming because of the cuffs being tight and chafing. I don't know how, but I've worked past that. Either I broke the boots in or they broke me in. But I was out in them for 5 hours a few days ago, and my ankles had minimal complaints. Others have commented that they run narrow, but for me that's perfect. I have narrow heels and getting skate boots to lock in around my heels is a problem. Even so with these, I have been using a gel sleeve between my heel and ankle to get things even tighter. They do not have the thicker padding of other Rollerblade boots I have skated in in recent years, such as a pair of EnduRace boots that gave me over 10k miles.

Runs NarrowComfortable, great ankle support, and the BOA system makes putting these on a breeze. However, these run a bit narrow, and since they're carbon they won't loosen up over time (sadly, they're not heat-moldable).

Almost perfect urban/fitness skateI bought these skates because I wanted a stiff supportive boot for fitness skating in urban areas and commuting. Before buying I could tell these are not speed skates and I was right which is why I bought the boot only as for my style of skating using these with a speed skate frame would be inappropriate. These boots are more comparable to an urban/fitness skate hybrid rather than a speed/fitness skate as they have a very high cuff and are extremely supportive especially laterally and are the most laterally supportive skates I've ever worn. They are even more supportive than my HC Evo Pro's which surprised me as the product description claims they are not very supportive. Don't be fooled these are extremely supportive high cuff boot and are not at all comparable to a speed skate. Unfortunately you are restricted to using these with 195mm mount speed skate frames but I was able to find a Seba speed skate frame that was only 266mm long with 125mm wheels and they handle similarly to urban frames I've used making it easy to carve around on a variety of roads, bike trails and sidewalks. Because these skates are so supportive I think even a complete beginner wouldn't have trouble balancing on these with 125mm wheels and it makes riding over bumps, cracks and doing some technical skating very easy. If an inexperienced skater wanted to try skating with 125mm wheels these just might be the best option. The BOA lacing system on these skates makes them super convenient, I've timed myself putting them on and I can lace up both skates in only 20 seconds vs my HC Evo Pro's which takes me about a minute and a half. This makes these skates great for commuting and beginners who might want to take their skates on and off regularly to avoid skating through dangerous areas like steep hills. Because they're so quick to take on and off I've also just taken them wherever I go out and if I find a nice skating spot I'll take out my skates and have a bit of fun. These skates do fit a bit small at first and because they are not heat moldable they require some painful breaking in. I'm always a size 45 in every skate I've worn and when I first tried these on in a size 45 I thought that I might have needed a size up because they felt very cramped. There's just a lot of padding that needs to be pushed in and broken into the shape of your foot and after a couple of skate sessions, they fit well and are comfortable for long 1 hour+ long sessions of skating without having to take them off. Overall these are extremely good skates with the only major shortcoming being they only accept a 195mm speed skate mount which I don't think is appropriate for these skates. They really aren't a speed skate and if they accepted a typical 165mm mount you'd have much more options when it comes to frames however you can still find speed skate frames that are shorter and comparable to urban freestyle frames. Just don't expect these to feel anything like a speed skate and if you're aware of what you're getting I think you'll be very pleased with these skates.

More boa boot options pleaseTL; DR: Boa lacing is amazing, put it in more products. This is my first hard boot (with integrated liner) and I do like it a lot but I wish there was a 165mm version (with the boa lacing, of course) I bought these to try the boa lacing system and I was not disappointed. I timed myself, putting both boots on takes approximately 50 seconds, and taking them off about 30 seconds (I'm not including the time to put on socks or any other gear, just the boots). At first I was concerned that the ratchet mechanism would wear out the protective plastic exterior of the laces but after about one month of testing it (and cranking it very tight), I don't see any issues with that. The only major problem I have is that the 195mm mounting limits my frame options so I can't use these with my urban skating frames (urban skating is practically all I do). I wish there was a 165mm version (or maybe make a boa version of the crossfire). I would buy it in a heartbeat.
