The Smith Scabs Urban Knee Pads not only look good but they're also made with quality abrasion-resistant elements for an exceptional price. They have butterfly straps made of a squishy neoprene-feeling material that has a bit of stretch to it and feels super comfortable. They also have an adjustable top strap with a thick Scabs label on top of where the velcro lies and bottom straps that support the fit. Since they aren't sleeve-type pads they make it easy for you to wear your pads over your pants or take them off while keeping your skates on. The padding has a layer of memory foam and two dense layers of foam that will protect your knees and keep them comfortable. The padding is also removable so that you can take them out and wash your pads. Lastly, the caps are attached to the pad with velcro so you can remove them, replace them and keep using your pads even when the caps get too worn down.

So far so goodThese pads fit and feel good, even to fall in, but I can see where Kimi is coming from in the other review. The design fabric doesn't seem tough enough. At least mine are still in pretty good shape after a few months but I'm not that rough onthem, so we'll see how long they last.

Great padding, but terrible fabricI was super excited for these pads, love love love the purple leopard print. It's a vibe for sure. The pads themselves are nice and thick, took some gnarly falls without feeling a thing (mind you these were coupled with the knee gaskets under the pads as well). What ruined these pads for me is the fabric used for the leopard print. It is cheap and thin and does not hold up to sport. Right knee fabric had threads ripping and padding exposed after just a few weeks of derby practice. The fabric on the left knee pad was ripped top to bottom after one fall at the skate park and can't hold the padding in place anymore. I didn't expect the furred fabric to last long, but I'm very disappointed that there wasn't a thicker fabric under it to prevent complete loss. I bought these pads in July and they're now completely unusable in September.
