Best Roller Skates for Park and Street Skating

By Nadia | January 2024

If you are in search of the best skates to wear in the skate park or for street skating, look no further because we are here to help! We have skaters at Derby Warehouse who have been in the park skating for over a decade, which also means that we have broken a lot of skates!

Many skates can be used in the skate park and if you are a beginner we encourage you to experiment with gear that feels right for you, take it slow and read our Skate Park Survival Guide if you need more tips on how to get started. However, a good skate for the skatepark starts with a good boot. You need gear that can withstand the rough conditions of the park and the streets if you want them to last.

Overall Performance: Moxi Jack 1 and 2

$369.00 MSRP (Sizes 4.0 - 13.0, including half sizes)

We love Moxi Jack boots for their quality, unbelievable comfort, and their strength! They look gorgeous in an array of colors with suede and vegan options that wear down even more beautifully. Overall, they are the dream boot for any skater but especially one who would like security in their ankles. Skating in the park or street can get sketchy and it certainly puts your ankles in a vulnerable position. The Jack 1 boots are known to hold a comfortable security but the Jack 2’s are even stiffer with a built-in ankle brace that protects you from injuries in impacts and helps you feel more responsive and reliable in movement.

Another thing that we love about these boots is the way that they fit. With a shearling tongue and a suede upper they form to your feet naturally over time or with heat-molding you can get a custom fit even quicker. The vegan option feels stiffer but lighter in weight and high in quality with two types of padding that hug your foot just the same. The heel also makes your balance feel more agile and puts you in a forward-leaning position that is ideal in transitions.

One downside to this boot is that they are pretty expensive, but it’s for a good reason! They are all handmade in the USA and they are an investment piece. They certainly aren’t for the skaters who store their skates in the closet, these are for people who love skating, want to skate for longer, and want a skate that can last with them. A great bonus to starting with just a boot is that you can customize all the components below, creating a custom skate is something we hope every skater can experience because dialing down every part, creates a skate that is unique just like you! Best Value: Chuffed Wanderer Plus Skates

Chaya Kismet Barbiepatin Gold Skates image

$365.00 MSRP (Sizes 4.0 - 10.0, full only)

We are absolutely Chuffed to carry the Wander Plus Skates! Not only are these skates a complete and formidable package for any intense skater, they also benefit skaters in need through every purchase! Hell on Quads created this skate with Chuffed Skates with Latin American skaters heavily considered. Unfortunately, quality skates are hard to get in Latin America so they created a system which subsides the cost of the skates for a skater native to the Hell on Quads region through the purchase of each skate elsewhere.

Even while doing this they still kept the price of this high-quality package relatively low! They have strong aluminum plates that can take the heat and are perfectly compatible with many grind blocks. The wheels are ready for the park at 99A and in 54mm they grab on nicely to coping and rails. The boots are one of Chuffed's stiffest and they are made with leather uppers that feel great and wear down nicely in an all-grey look. The Hell on Quads crew also customized the liner with their own print and signature colors. We love everything about this skate, so our cons are mostly for perspective purposes. If this package doesn't seem right for you but the boot seems ideal we recommend Chuffed's pro-boot series, they're nimble and tough with extra reinforcements in their pro-specific models.
