Here you will learn of The Best Skating Wrist Guards as chosen by staff members based on their experiences.
Ennui City Wrist Brace Best Overall $44.99 MSRP
Powerslide Onesie Wristguards Best Value $27.99 MSRP
Any wrist-guard with a splint can protect you from breaking your wrist but the Ennui City Wrist Brace is definitely the most advanced with qualities that make them better than most, and more comfortable. The only flaw I see in them is that they have a cover for the palms' splinter, which in most cases will see some wear but it adds to their durability. The splints are however made of aluminum so that may be the cause, and it makes them light in weight as well. It's hard to find a wrist-guard that you want to keep on but these have an SBR sleeve that feels great on the inside. The lacing works very well with velcro straps to pull them all together and the extra velcro strap that holds the bottom one in place is a very smart design.
The Powerslide Onesie Wristguards are just Powerslide making quality and well-functioning products once again! Although Powerslide and Ennui are from the same company, we hope this doesn't seem like a biased review, they are simply the ones making some of the best products consistently. There just isn't anything to complain about these wrist guards except maybe the sizing for some. They are a one-size-fits-all and they are made with extremely comfortable cotton and elastane that expands for a forgiving fit. It also makes them very breathable and able to allow your hand more movement with EVA foam. They have anatomically shaped splints on the palm and back that are supported by one large strap.
Seba Skating Wrist Guards Best Value $24.99 MSRP
Rollerblade X-Gear Inline Skating Wrist Guards Best Value $17.95 MSRP
The Seba Skating Wrist Guards are great for slalom and recreational skating as well. We would only recommend them for aggressive skaters that know how to fall but they only serve at level 1 protection. They are made of a nylon mesh with Coolmax lining and they have a very ergonomic feel. With EVA foam to protect you and shock-absorbing inserts, they are durable with layers of well-articulated plastic.
For less bulk, the Rollerblade X-Gear Inline Skating Wrist Guards offer similar protection with just a little less. They also use breathable mesh and shock-absorbing inserts. With an anatomical design, they have hard caps with labels for each hand. The double straps work well at keeping them in place comfortably.
Inline skating can be a great way to exercise and have fun. Unfortunately, it can also be a dangerous sport. The last thing you want is to end up with an injury that could have been easily prevented. Although wrist guards may not protect from all injuries, they protect from the most common. First time rollerbladers, skilled marathon skaters, and even aggressive trick skaters... All stick out their hands to brace for falls and there are countless things that make falling a probability each time we lace up. Many are not even within our control, so why take the chance? Most wrist protection has a plastic piece (or splint) at the palm and/or on the inside of the wrist. This protects your hands from hitting the ground, absorbs impact, and slides without suffering a major injury. Having something that prevents abrasions, bruises, sprains, and even fractures, skaters can more confidently use their hands in times of crisis.
